# Richard Biroš

Software engineer at Apify. Building web products from frontend to backend, and exploring how AI is changing the way we ship software.

## About

I like understanding how things work and figuring out how to make them better.

Most of my work happens somewhere between product ideas and the systems that bring them to life. I enjoy untangling complicated problems, questioning existing approaches, and finding simpler ways to get things done.

Lately, I've been particularly interested in AI-assisted development. Not just writing code faster, but rethinking how we build software when agents can take on more of the implementation.

Outside of work, I build side projects, experiment with new tools, and occasionally spend far too much time polishing the details.

## Experience

### Apify

Software Engineer · 2025–present

I work on apify.com and the systems behind it, from the Next.js website and CMS to documentation, publishing workflows, and developer tooling.

My work goes beyond building features. I help improve how our teams develop, maintain, and ship software, while making our products and documentation more accessible to both people and AI agents.

#### Areas of focus at Apify

- **Web platform & infrastructure**: Building and maintaining the systems behind Apify's web presence, with a focus on performance, reliability, scalability, and developer experience.
- **Content systems & automation**: Designing workflows and tooling that make content creation, management, and publishing easier, safer, and less dependent on engineering.
- **AI-native development**: Helping bring AI agents into everyday development workflows, from cloud-based development environments to tooling that makes building and prototyping more accessible across teams.
- **Building for AI agents**: Making Apify's web platform and documentation easier for AI agents to discover, understand, and interact with through machine-readable content and agent-friendly interfaces.

### Tivio Studio

Software Engineer · 2022–2025

At Tivio, I worked on video streaming products for clients including Oktagon MMA and DVTV, building experiences across web, mobile, and TV, along with the backend systems and services behind them.

My role combined hands-on engineering with technical leadership. I led the development team working on Stargaze, helping shape technical decisions and guide implementation while continuing to write code.

#### Areas of focus at Tivio Studio

- **Product engineering**: Building streaming experiences across platforms, connecting user interfaces with application logic, shared data models, and backend services.
- **Technical leadership**: Providing technical direction for the Stargaze development team, coordinating implementation and helping make engineering decisions.
- **Subscriptions & integrations**: Working on subscription lifecycles, payments, access management, and integrations connecting streaming products with external services.
- **Platform & internal tooling**: Developing administrative tools, automation, and shared functionality that make complex product workflows easier to operate and maintain.

### eppTec

Software Engineer · 2021–2022

At eppTec, I worked on two very different projects: a startup building a business rules platform and a large banking environment at Komerční banka.

The experience gave me a chance to work across frontend and backend development, take ownership of frontend implementation, and adapt to very different technical and organizational environments.

#### Areas of focus at eppTec

- **Full-stack product development**: Building features across frontend and backend for DecisionRules, including tools for creating and managing complex business logic.
- **Frontend ownership**: Taking responsibility for frontend development of an internal document-signing application at Komerční banka, working independently on the interface and its integration with backend services.
- **Enterprise applications**: Contributing to digital banking experiences, working within established design systems, technical constraints, and larger development teams.

### Trakm8

Frontend Developer · 2018–2021

Trakm8 was where I started my career as a software developer. I worked on applications used to track vehicles, manage fleets, and turn location and operational data into something useful for customers.

It was my introduction to building software for real users, working with APIs, handling live data, and learning how frontend applications fit into larger systems.

#### Areas of focus at Trakm8

- **Frontend development**: Building and maintaining interfaces for fleet management and vehicle tracking applications.
- **Data visualization**: Working with maps, vehicle data, and reporting interfaces to help users understand fleet activity and performance.
- **Application integration**: Connecting frontend applications with backend services and APIs, and collaborating with other developers to deliver product functionality.

Status: Side projects

I'm looking for a side project to build alongside my work. Have an idea? Let's talk.
